Membership in the GWP is intended for anyone with an interest in philosophy of science as an academic discipline. Any adult can become a member. Membership in the GWP does not preclude membership in other philosophical societies. Admission can be requested in writing, the steering committee decides on acceptance. An objection to the committee’s decision can be filed by the applicant, in this case a single majority vote at the next general meeting can take place.
Members of the GWP can access the Journal for General Philosophy of Science (JGPS) online for free. They can also purchase the print edition of the JGPS for a reduced fee of €50 /year.
Junior members can apply for GWP funding to organise a workshop or recover costs from attending conferences. The format of such workshops and participation is relatively flexible.
You also receive a discount on the fee of the GWP conferences. Those conferences take place every three years. As a participant in the general meeting you play an active role in the direction and agenda of the GWP.
As a member you can access information about other members for networking purposes.
Through the cooperation of the GWP with other philosophical societies members can also make and maintain international relations.
As a member you also receive the GWP Newsletter which contains information about current events in the philosophy of science. By this you stay informed about Calls for Papers, Conferences, Awards etc.
It is possible to cancel your membership at any time (already paid fees cannot reimbursed). In order to do this, please send us an e-mail.
If you are a member and you bank details have changed, please send us a new SEPA Debit Advice / SEPA-Lastschrift-Mandat (download).
